What the crawlspace is doing to your comfort
Tick what you notice upstairs. The list below turns it into the order we would look at things underneath — cheapest and most likely first.
Where we would look first
- Ducts — joints, boots and supports, because a disconnected boot heats the crawlspace instead of the house.
- Insulation — duct wrap and floor insulation, which sag and tear over decades.
- Vapour barrier — the plastic over the soil that keeps ground moisture out of the air.
Tick the symptoms above and this list reorders itself.
What we actually do down there
Four jobs, in plain words
- Duct repairReconnect boots, replace crushed flex, support long runs and seal joints with mastic instead of tape.
- Duct insulationBring the wrap back to a proper jacket so the air arrives at the temperature it left.
- Vapour barrierNew sheeting over the soil, lapped and held down, so the ground stops feeding moisture into the house.
- Access and sealingA hatch that closes, screened vents where they belong, and gaps sealed so the crawlspace stops being a wind tunnel.
What we don't do
We are an HVAC company. If there is standing water, a failed sump or structural damage, we will tell you what we saw and recommend the right trade — we do not price work we are not the people for.
If you smell something musty, we will say so plainly and suggest an inspection rather than making claims about what it is or what it does. Our part is the ducts, the insulation and the airflow.
